Ministry of Water Resources issues warning of rising Mekong River levels, caused by Typhoon CEMPAKA
The Ministry of Water Resources and Meteorology has warned that the Mekong River will rise in the next three to four days, which could cause flooding in the lower Mekong Delta.
Affected areas will be: Stung Treng, Kratie, Kampong Cham and other provinces. The rise of the Mekong River was caused by the effects of the seventh typhoon “CEMPAKA”
The Ministry says: “The seventh typhoon, CEMPAKA, and the effects of other storms and systems affecting the Mekong Basin have caused rainfall of Mostly in the upper Mekong basin: China, Thailand and Laos, as well as the highlands of north-eastern Cambodia.”
The Ministry of Water Resources would like to inform the public, relevant local authorities, especially the people living along both sides of the Mekong River and other low-lying areas to be informed and hurry to collect agricultural products in a timely manner and increase vigilance.
